Men in Sheds
A shed for just men ? Can this be true? Yes, indeed it is.
The Men in Sheds project was set up in March 2011 as a hobbies place for older men. Whether you are looking to do some woodwork or small metal work project, join in a group working on a local community group or just looking for some company with like minded men, then this is the place for you.
With the emphasis on retirement being a positive, active and fruitful experience, this project for retired men offers a sense of purpose, a chance to be creative, productive and contribute to society. The Shed is a place to learn new skills and share old ones – or as Les Shires, the Shed Coordinator, points out, “It can just be somewhere to come and have a cup of tea and a chat.”
Shed Chairman Graham Hall adds, “Members come from all walks of life and the bond that unites us is that we’re retired men with time on our hands that we’d like to do something meaningful with – be it working together on a community project or something of our own.”
Come down to the Hub Club and see for yourself – you are very welcome.
Opening Times: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Fridays 10am – 5pm
