WWI Centenary Exhibition

WWI Centenary Exhibition - This Terrible Ordeal, Manx National Heritage
Manx National Heritage have pulled together an impressive array of artifacts and information regarding the role the Isle if Man played in the Great War.  The content is both surprising and poignant.  The Men in Sheds group contributed to this exhibition by creating a ‘living room’ decorated and furnished to recreate the atmosphere of that time.

Passion Play Props

The men have been very busy this last 3 months making an impressive array of props for the Island of Culture Passion Plays that re being held in different location around the Island this Easter.  From a full sized crucifix to the Tree of Life, is there nothing these men can make?

The shed is now welcomes men of all ages.  If you have time on your hands then come down to the shed and find out more about us.  There are skills to learn and share, projects to help on or just find a space and work on something of your own.  The kettle is always on.

Men in Sheds Everest Expedition Update

Les Shires conquers Everest
Les Shires completed the 1,200 mile trek from Kathmandu to Everest Base camp with his dignity and fitness intact.  He struggled though encounters with a mad bull, unsocial Yaks, outdoor latrines and the local high alcohol beverage.

Everest Expedition for Men-in-Sheds

Everest Expedition 2012
 “I have never embarked on anything so intrepid in my life, but it’s now or never!” remarked Les Shires, part time Shed Coordinator of the Men in Sheds Project in Port Erin. Standing in ‘The Shed’ surrounded by retired men working on various hobby projects, Les was referring to his upcoming 250-mile Everest expedition.
